Meet our Chairman & Trustees
A letter from the Chairman
2010 was a tough year for everyone, but for those who are struggling to make a life in the Capital, ScotsCare has acted as a lifeline for thousands of first and second generation Scots. My team of superb staff and volunteers have been busy ensuring that those in most need get the help and assistance they so desperately need – help that can mean the difference between making a new life in this vibrant city, and feeling alone in what can be a very harsh and isolating environment.
I have watched ScotsCare grow over the last few years into an organisation that holds true to the values of our founders, unwavering in its determination to provide a vital link and build a strong, solid community that supports each and every Scotsman, woman and child in need. Nobody who comes to ScotsCare for help is ever turned away, and I cannot praise our team of volunteers highly enough. Their fantastic work has meant that, despite the economic and social challenges that have faced us over the past few years, the Scottish community in London has and always will have someone to turn to in times of need.
As we begin the new decade, it is my heartfelt wish that ScotsCare continues to build on these excellent foundations, carrying on our founder’s principles of not just helping those in need, but encouraging the community to support itself and building ever stronger ties between our Scottish family in London and the community they live in.
I’ve seen first hand just how hard our team of volunteers, administrators, staff and carers work to help those most in need, and their continued efforts are an inspiration to everyone. With your support, we can carry on this vital work, helping the Scottish community in London to succeed beyond all expectations. I am proud to be associated with such an important organisation, and look forward to meeting the challenges that the new decade brings head on.
