Help to get people back into work

Anthony
Anthony was born in Dundee but moved South with his family at an early age. He met his partner 9 years ago and they soon settled down bringing up their two children on Income Support and Child Benefit.

Over the years Anthony had a variety of low paid manual jobs which never seemed to last very long until a few years ago when he secured a job with Royal Mail as a driver. The future looked good with a regular job and a third child on the way until Royal Mail announced restructuring changes which led to work being moved away from the sorting office he worked from and finally his contract was terminated in January 2005, not the best start to the New Year!

After his daughter was born in June 2005 Anthony realised that even with the support of his extended family, the pressure was on to secure fulltime employment. He enjoyed driving so was determined to stay in that field; he realised that an LGV licence would be a great asset but he also knew that training was expensive. That’s when he approached ScotsCare.

Recognising Anthony’s determination and motivation, ScotsCare was able to fund his LGV driver training, which he successfully completed in August 2005 and within weeks he secured a permanent position driving a tipper truck.
