Jack Frost’s back…..
Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 by IsabelAfter a couple of days where it felt a little warmer I woke up this morning to see the temperature had returned to the ice and frost we saw last week. Keeping our homes warm and comfortable is becoming impossible due to the rising expense. Fuel bills and ways to pay them are a big worry for a lot of our clients. Direct debits are often increased by the Energy Provider with only a couple of weeks notice and those with prepayment meters are charged at a higher rate even though they are paying in advance!
The only choice we have is to become more energy efficient. This often means turning the heating off when the kids go to bed or while they are at school and for some it even means going to bed early. As someone who feels the cold, and am known for complaining about it all the time, I spent sometime preparing my house to ensure it was as warm as possible. Curtains are pulled in the early evenings, doors closed behind me and slippers kept at the ready. It really does make a difference and hopefully cheaper bills are on the way.
There is help available for those struggling to pay these bills. For information call The Home Heat Helpline on 0800 33 66 99. This is a free service that offers information and advice.
Thankfully it wont be long until Summer and everyone, with the exception of me ,will be moaning its too hot….
