A date at The Caledonian Club
Monday, December 1st, 2008 by ShonaLast Friday evening I attended our St Andrew’s Day dinner at The Caledonian Club and was priviliged to be able to speak to our guests about the work that we do everyday. The experience itself was rather anxiety provoking as i have never before spoke to such a large audience, however I believe that the examples given of the people we’ve helped provided an insight into our work and shows how ScotsCare can and does provide a wide and far reaching support service to Scots in London.
As the Client Support Manager at ScotsCare it’s part of my job to support and facilitate the work of our client support staff. We work with a broad range of vulnerable clients with a broad range of problems. Our clients are referred to us from other agencies or simply through word of mouth. They may have addiction problems, mental health issues, be fleeing domestic violence or simply need some general advice and support. By supporting the staff in their work i get to hear first hand about the individual and their circumstances and how we work with them to alleviate the sometimes very difficult situations we find them in.
We still have a lot of work to do before the year end, and like most folk, i’m looking forward to the Christmas break and coming back refreshed for another year!
