"If it wasn't for ScotsCare I don't know what I would do. Living here is such a joy; my neighbours really are my family."

Housing for the elderly and severely disabled

Josephine
Josephine was born in Glasgow in 1920 and moved to London as a young woman where she married and settled in the London Borough of Lewisham, working there for over 30 years.

When she became a widow in 1991 she applied to ScotsCare for housing. Josephine has no children and no living relatives in the UK; her closest relative is a niece who lives in Australia who she hasn’t seen in over 15 years. When she moved into our accommodation in 1991 she was fit and well, with a very active mind and good social life and was an active member of the British Legion.

Unfortunately in 1999 Josephine suffered a stroke, which affected her mobility, and she was left wheelchair bound. ScotsCare quickly transferred her to a flat with wheelchair access on the same site; this has allowed Josephine to maintain her links with her friends and neighbours within the community as well as in the Borough.
